TROUT IN THE CLASSROOM
PERKIOMEN VALLEY TROUT UNLIMITED Chapter Meeting Monday, February 12, 2018!
Don't forget our next regular meeting of Perkiomen Valley TU next Monday, February 12, 2018, at 7:00 P. M., at the Upper Perkiomen Valley Library, 350 Main Street, Red Hill, PA 18076, in the Community Room, downstairs in the rear of the building. The public is invited, as all are welcome to attend!
The presenter for this month's meeting is Jim Coffey, recently retired UPHS Environmental Science teacher, PVTU member, and Coordinator for the chapter’s “Trout in the Classroom” program and other Youth Programs that we support in the Upper Perkiomen Valley.
Jim will be presenting an interesting program, not only on the educational aspects of this cooperative effort between Trout Unlimited, The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and The Pennsylvania Department of Education, but also how it helps students become more aware of our environment and the importance of clean water to the ecosystem. You’ll learn how brook trout eggs delivered to the schools in November are hatched and nurtured by the students until finally being released as fingerlings in the spring in local trout-approved streams. He’ll explain the programs associated with release day activities, as well.
There will be topics for discussion related to the chapter operations for those who’d like to stay, following Jim’s presentation, and all are welcome to stay and see how you can help support your local chapter.
Hope to see you there!
Thomas W. Smith, President
Perkiomen Valley Chapter No. 332, Trout Unlimited
